This novella was first published in the Romancing the Alpha adventure romance boxed set.

She’d left him in the past. He’s about to blow up her future.

Declan “Dex” Fitzgerald is a treasure hunter on a mission. With a loose idea of where to find the gems, and even looser morals, Dex wrangles a last-minute job on the exploration team. And realizes he’ll have to work alongside his uptight-but-sexy-as-hell ex.

And they’re not the only ones in pursuit of the treasure. With sparks flying and oxygen tanks running low, can Dex and Katy retrieve the gems before the bad guys?

Underwater archaeology photographer Katy Ryan lands a desperately needed job documenting historical artifacts to pay for her mother's mounting medical bills. Bonus is that the dive is on the fabled wreck of RMS Lusitania, which was the subject of her her doctoral dissertation. But something's fishy about the entire underwater salvage expedition, as it's a secret mission. When she finds her roomie is her ex, "Dex"Declan Fitzgerald, a treasure hunter, not only is the past resurrected, old passions rekindled, they are also pitted against each other in a race to find the hidden jewels in the wreck. But when two divers are murdered, Katy realizes that she's the target...

Her Treasure Hunter Ex is a contrived novella, not a fleshed out story. Central characters Katy and her ex, "Dex" are so static and one-dimensional as they explore their steamy second chance romance, that not even a murder or two can rescue the foundering storyline. Had the author invested more time and attention into the underdeveloped story instead of the myriad perfunctory sex scenes peppering the manuscript, it could've been a decent read. I found myself groaning, and not with delight, tallying up the so-called "steamy" sex scenes which were clinical, bordering on puerile. I'm beginning to suspect soft-porn authors must steal from each other. Pebbled nipples. Really? If there hadn't been so many sex scenes, Her Treasure Hunter Ex could've passed off as a Young Adult book.

The writing's ok, but the author is naive and her vocabulary is limited. Clumsy sentences: "His look was intense, the levity of earlier put on hold." She sometimes uses wrong words: pray vs prey: "The net was reluctant to relinquish its pray" had me laughing inappropriately. Vision vs visibility. Jade is a stone, not a jewel, it doesn't glint in the bathroom light.

The author did some research on the historical aspect of the story of the Lusitania (which is why I read the book in the first place). I didn't learn much about the wreck and the author was far too inexperienced a writer to flesh out the adventure part of the story, which is decidedly more interesting than the juvenile "hot" sex scenes. I will hand it to the author for knowing her fadas, or accents on Irish words. But this was one boring read. I want my wasted time back.

Her Treasure Hunter Ex Ballybeg Bad Boys Book 1 edition by Zara Keane Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It was an okay book but I have just read too many of her books lately. I should have spread them out more but I liked Ballybag. That is the city they all live in or go to or came from. Some of the stories were great.

This one was good. Both were celibate while they were apart which is a must on any novels I read. The villains were obvious but what they found is unique and surprised me. Really liked Dex the H and was glad he wasn't cheating pond scrum. Had a great epilogue too. I think I have read all the books of Zara's now and I will read her again.
Someone suggested that I should read this so I got it on and decided to read and review it. Dex is a treasure hunter who is trying to salvage priceless jewels from a wreckage said to have been from the first world war.  Katy is an underwater photographer who is taking this job to pay for her mother's medical bills. Only to find out that Dex her ex is there as well and her roommate. Throw in murders, secret missions, and rekindled passions That is the line of for this book. Grab a copy and find out all the details for yourself.
This story had a different story line then I have read before, which really held my attention. I found the diving scenes and treasure hunt very interesting! Dex and Katy were great together . Romance, mystery/suspense, little twists and some history made this a "couldn't put it down" book for me. I am looking forward to reading more of Zara Keane's books.
A short but sweet twist on underwater treasure hunting story. Katy Ryan has finished her PHD and has been approached to join a team to recover artifacts from the Lusitania. Katy is an underwater photographer and has had a fascination with the Lusitania, since her great grandparents had survived the sinking ship. She agrees to join the team with the hope that she can help pay for her mother's expensive medical bills by taking this job. Katy enters the apartment her sponsor has secured for her and finds her ex fiancé Dee Fitzgerald in the apartment. Katy almost turns to leave but knows she has to see this through for her mother's sake. The story is good but there are places in the story where expanding the knowledge of the Lusitania would improve the historical impact of the scenes and what the divers discover. There is also the problem of explaining how Katy was an 8 year US Navy veteran? Katy was on other dive teams with Dex. (It is how they met) Then to finish her PHD? Does the writer realize how many years that those combined experiences make a believable story when Katy is portrayed as still being young.
I liked parts of this books well enough, but there was a *thing* that happened at the end (a reveal I won't reveal in my review) that was almost... brushed off as far as the character's reactions went. I wanted a little more angst and anger over that *thing* and when I didn't get it, I found myself a teeny bit disappointed.

Because when someone does something that throws the whole course of someone's life into a tailspin and then it turns out the reason they did it was...wrong...well, I want some righteous fury to be throw around. But then, I'm a pitiless, heartless person who likes to read about BAD THINGS HAPPENING to people, so maybe that's just me.

(Man, I kinda make myself sound borderline sociopathic there. I'm not. Mostly.)

I liked the treasure hunting. I liked that Dex and Katy came together like a house on fire. I liked the background stuff going on. There was just that one little thing that threw me. I want more angst and anger, apparently. Huh. Who knew?

Well, that was a couple of hours of my life I wont be getting back, now wasnt it? Best summed up by saying, "Just another Scooby Doo Mystery." Sadly, I had neither soft porn, nor a goofy attempt at crime-writing in mind when I chose the category of 'romance'. Is plain old, run of the mill, ordinary romance just too complicated, or too simple for authors these days? Sheesh.
